Page Title For ACT-Trained Professionals

Welcome to the ACT-Trained Professionals section of the Web site. This part of the site is designed to provide information, guidance, and materials to professionals who have participated in ACT Training Workshops. These professionals have been trained to undertake ACT initiatives in their communities and to disseminate ACT program messages and materials. Many are planning and undertaking training events, workshops, and other initiatives to inform members of their community about the ACT program principles and strategies of early violence prevention.

These principles and strategies emphasize two primary concepts:

  1. That adults serve as important role models for teaching young children about violence prevention; and
  2. That the early years are an important time for children to learn basic skills that can have a lasting impact on their lives.

The training program content includes:

  1. Child development—to educate adults about what to expect from children at different ages;
  2. The involvement of young children with violence and its consequences; and
  3. Specific violence prevention skills—e.g., managing anger, resolving conflicts, discipline, and media violence and children.

To assist ACT-Trained Professionals in their community activities, this site will provide updates on the ACT Project through the ACT in ACTion newsletter, notices about recent research articles, and password-protected services for online technical assistance and reporting about ACT-related activities.
